Rochelle Turner from Which Holidays appeared on Working Lunch today to explain the phenomenon of holiday house swapping, where a couple from say London wanting to holiday in France swaps houses with a family from France who want to visit London. In today’s credit crunch environment it is a very cheap way to holiday abroad, if you don’t mind someone else living in your house while you are away.
Rochelle told Working Lunch presenters Declan and Naga that holiday house swapping was for certain people only – most people would never want to let anyone else live in their home while they were away. People who weren’t house proud would be ideal candidates for this kind of money saving.
Rochelle said that the whole process of house swapping was based on trust and that people wanting to try it should be realistic and honest about the appeal of their own home when describing it to other potential house swappers – include travel links, places to go, local attractions, amenities etc.
There are several holiday house swap websites which facilitate the process – we found one here
