David Attenborough appeared on This Morning recently to talk to Phil and Fern about his DVD Encyclopaedia called Life on Land. It is a bold title for a documentary series because Life on Land can cover an immense range of species living on Earth. Philip Schofield asked David Attenborough whether there was going to be a Life on Sea. David Attenborough acknowledged that Life on Land meant exactly that, and they were careful not to include anything about marine life in the documentary, which they covered in the Blue Planet series.

David Attenborough’s Life on Land is like it’s title a DVD Encyclopaedia. There are no fewer than 15 DVDs in the box set, 40 hours of footage narrated by the great man himself.

Interestingly, humans are also featured in Life on Land. David Attenborough explained that ‘The First Eden’ which features on one of the DVDs in the set was a programme they made a long time ago about the Mediterranean. Human beings evolving in Africa came up the Mediterranean and this was the first place where they come to terms with wild animals, and domesticate them.

Philip Schofield described David Attenborough’s Life on Land as ‘such a wonderful thing to have…essential in schools, but also at home’.
