The Gadget Show did a feature on their Top 5 Men’s Razors yesterday. Presenter Jon Bentley was initially given 17 of the most popular razors on the market, and told to whittle them down to a shortlist of five after a thorough testing period. Jon assessed the razors for comfort, convenience and speed of shaving. After some exhaustive testing, here are the top 5 razors as decided by The Gadget Show, from 5 to 1:
5. Braun 370 Pocket Twist Plus
In fifth place was the Braun 370 Pocket Twist Plus Shaver. The razor is battery-powered and very portable, the way the Braun twists shut allows you to easily transport it around in your pocket without needing a separate case. It struggled slightly with thick stubble, but could be ideal for someone with a lighter beard.

4. Panasonic ES8249 Pro-Curve wet/dry razor
This Panasonic Pro-Curve impressed The Gadget Show presenter Jon as a dry shaver, but it also doubles as a wet shaver, where it also impressed Gadget Show presenter Suzie Perry and the guy they employed to test it on.

3. Wilkinson Sword Quattro Titanium Precision Razor
The Wilkinson Sword Titanium Precision shaver comes with a small beard trimmer at the ‘handle’ end of the razor, a handy addition. It did take some time to cut through two-weeks’ worth of beard, but Suzie Perry remarked that as a wet shaver, the Wilkinson Sword Quattro Titanium Precision razor really comes into its own. The Gadget Show’s razor tester said that after using it, his skin felt ‘pretty good’ and that it was better than his regular shave.

2. Philips RQ1095 ARCitec Rotary shaver
The Philips ARCitec Rotary shaver has triple track shaving heads which, together with a flex and pivot action, provides close contact in the curved areas around the face according to Gadget Show presenter Suzie. The tester of the Philips RQ1095 ARCitec Rotary said that the razor was ‘very comfortable and very smooth’.

1. Gillette Fusion Power Stealth
Top razor honours according to The Gadget Show is the Gillette Fusion Power Stealth, which also came top when Jon Bentley tested razors back in 2007. The five razor blades in the Fusion Power Stealth combine with micro-pulses generated by an AA battery in the handle generate a very close and comfortable shaving experience. There is an extra single blade on the other side of the razor for precision shaving.
