Sony Reader electronic book as seen on Something for the Weekend
Books, Electronics, Gifts & Gadgets, Something For The Weekend, Travel Add commentsThe Sony Reader was the final Something for the Weekend Gadget this week. Electronic books, also known as an Ebook or an Ereader, are set to become the next big thing in the gadget world, and could spell the beginning of the end for traditional books and libraries.
Gadget expert Seema Palmer explained that the Sony Reader was a portable electronic reading device which stores up to 160 books on its own internal memory, though there is a memory card slot for additional memory if you want to store more books on there.
The Sony Reader electronic book is great for taking on holiday, saving you luggage space that you would have filled with traditional books. Also this device could really catch on with students who will no longer have to cart numerous books around campus or school for all their different lectures, lessons, courses and seminars.
For people with poor eyesight the Sony Reader is great because you can zoom in or out, allowing you to choose bigger or smaller text depending on your own personal preference. The screen is bright, but crucially it is not backlit, which means you don’t get the eyestrain associated with other backlit screens. It is NOT like staring at a computer screen all day.
The Sony Reader comes pre-loaded with some classics such as The Jungle Book and Pride and Prejudice. Other titles can be easily downloaded from Waterstones at the same price as a normal book. The Sony Reader electronic book can also display pictures and play audio, so it’s more than just an Ebook.
