Gifts & Gadgets, Something For The Weekend Add comments

This week’s Something for the Weekend gadgets included remote controlled fish, a speaker and a gaming chair that didn’t work. Ella Williamson introduced the Air Swimmers first:

The Air Swimmers come in either clown fish or shark design, and essentially they are radio controlled helium blimps. The fact that the air swimmers are shaped like fish and are moved around using their sideways moving tails makes them incredibly cool. Air Swimmers cost £39.99 each from firebox.

Next up was the Ghetto Blaster 2 speaker.

The Ghetto Blaster 2 is a very small but weighty device which uses vibrations to turn hard surfaces into great sound producers. It has a suction cup on the bottom allowing you to stick it to surfaces with ease. The Ghetto Blaster 2 costs £79.99 – we’ve only found one website which sells them.

Unfortunately the last of this week’s Something for the Weekend gadgets was a gaming chair with steering wheel which didn’t work, so they didn’t feature it. If you know what this chair was and where to buy it, please leave a comment below.

Hi, the final featured gadget on SFTW (25/09/11) was not the Racing Chair but the fantastic F1 2011 game. The game was released by Codemasters on Friday 23 September 2011 and was to be demo’d using the F1 11simulator racing chair with replica F1 steering wheel and hydraulic action for a realistic driving experience – it’ll set you back £10k if you want one, by the way… This bit of kit DID actually work – it was the TV that blew 10 seconds before the item was to be shown that scuppered it!

Tim Lovejoy played the game in rehearsal and couldn’t be prized off it (search youtube for proof).
