Rovio was the final gadget featured on this week’s Something for the Weekend. Rovio as Ella Williamson explained is a wifi enabled robot webcam. Rovio can be controlled using a PC. Using controls on your PC including arrows for direction and speed, you can navigate Rovio wirelessly and the webcam transmits the live colour video back to your PC or laptop screen. The camera is neck mounted and can be adjusted. Rovio is great for keeping an eye on your pets for example. You can also use Rovio to take pictures. On the docking station there is an infra red beam which casts a kind of radar around the room. Using this you can set waypoints in the room for Rovio to navigate around – at the touch of a button Rovio can return to the docking station and recharge itself.
