Macon-Villages Chardonnay 2007 as seen on Saturday Kitchen

On this week’s Saturday Kitchen, Michelin-starred chef Mark Sargeant cooked a delicious and quick to prepare pan-fried salmon with a warm vinaigrette of potatoes, Morcambe Bay shrimps and capers.

Saturday Kitchen wine expert Susy Atkins was sent to Surbiton in Surrey to pick out a wine to match the food cooked in the Saturday Kitchen studio. Susy picked a 2007 Macon-Villages Chardonnay. Susy believed that a Chardonnay’s buttery roundness and fruitiness goes really well with salmon. Susy nearly went for an Australian Chardonnay but decided that Mark Sargeant’s warm vinaigrette dressing demanded a Chardonnay with more of a fresh lift and drier finish, and the Old World Burgundy Macon-Villages 2007 Chardonnay fits the bill perfectly.

The Macon-Villages Chardonnay 2007 as seen on Saturday Kitchen is available from Waitrose.
