De Forville Dolcetto D’Alba 2007 red wine as seen on Saturday Kitchen
Food & Drink, Saturday Kitchen Add commentsA steak with watercress salad was the first meal cooked on today’s Saturday Kitchen Live. It had mixed reviews from the panel – Craig Revel Horwood was typically critical of the steak dish, saying that it was fibrous and required a lot of energy to eat. He gave the dish a 6 out of 10.
Saturday Kitchen wine expert Susy Atkins was dispatched to Stockport in Greater Manchester to pick the perfect wine for this beef dish. Susy said that with beef there’s a tendency to charge towards the most powerful, full bodied, stonking great red you can find. However, beef is a more delicate meat than roast lamb or even pork, and the fact that Mark’s recipe was actually a beef salad means that a more gentle wine is required.
Susy Atkins chose a soft ripe red with a fresh lift to the finish. An Italian red called De Forville Dolcetto D’Alba 2007 from Northern Italy.
