Stephen Fry as seen on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross
Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Music & DVD Add commentsStephen Fry was the second guest on this week’s Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. Stephen Fry is a fountain of knowledge and he revealed to Jonathan Ross that he is currently expanding his knowledge of natural history by travelling to places such as Australia and New Zealand, filming a series about endangered species. Stephen told Jonathan Ross he had also been in Africa and the Amazon looking at other endangered species as part of the series.
Stephen Fry talked a great deal about the Kakapo, a bird whose name translates as ‘Owl Parrot’, which he recently spent time with in New Zealand. Stephen revealed a little known fact about New Zealand – that until quite recently it had never had mammals, cats, dogs etc.
Stephen Fry then talked to Jonathan Ross about Twitter. He explained that Twitter is micro-blogging – you have 140 characters including spaces and punctuation to post where you are and what you are doing. Stephen Fry has been using Twitter for a while now, keeping his ‘followers’ up to date with his adventures. Jonathan Ross also has a Twitter account.
The last DVD Stephen Fry made was Stephen Fry in America, a fascinating series in which he visits all 50 States in America. Stephen told Jonathan Ross that he met some marvellous people whilst making Stephen Fry in America, and that his general impression of Americans is that they are honourable, polite, kindly, well-intentioned and thoughtful, contrary to British public perception of Americans.
Stephen Fry in America is available either as a book or a DVD of the series. Both are fascinating and hugely entertaining.
