Theo Paphitis appeared on Working Lunch today for a business chat with Working Lunch presenter Naga Munchetty. Theo Paphitis is best known for being a multi-millionaire Dragon from the BBC2 hit show Dragon’s Den, but he began his career as a lowly tea-boy. Now though, Theo Paphitis is worth an estimated £125 million. He has transformed high-street retailers La Senza and Ryman’s, and activity company Red Letter Days with fellow Dragon Peter Jones.

In 2008 Theo Paphitis released a book called Enter the Dragon, which tells his story from rags to riches and is a must read for any budding entrepreneur or fan of Dragons Den. Theo Paphitis admitted on Working Lunch to never having a unique idea in his life. Theo said the secret of success is in the executing of ideas better than anyone else in that particular sector – it doesn’t have to be a new idea.

Theo Paphitis told Working Lunch that despite the current economic downturn in Britain, he remains incredibly optimistic. The reason for his optimism is that now is a great time to start a business in terms of the amount of help available for budding entrepreneurs, in terms of mentoring, investment and networking.
