Piers Morgan appeared on This Morning to chat to Phil and Ruth about his newest series, Piers Morgan on… which is shown on ITV, Thursdays at 9pm. The first program is Piers Morgan on Dubai, where he samples some of the delights of the up and coming playground of the rich and famous.

Fresh from the success of his program Piers Morgan on Sandbanks, producers asked him where he would like to go next to explore the lifestyle of the obscenely rich and famous. Dubai was one of Piers Morgan’s first destinations, a land of lavish extravagance in parts. Philip Schofield commented that he and his wife used to travel to Dubai ten or fifteen years ago when it was much more ‘controlled’ than it is now in terms of building work and extravagance.

Piers Morgan on Dubai: “It is an extraordinary place…it has been turned into one of the most vibrant cities in the world.” Thirty years ago, Dubai was essentially a desert, and the transformation in 30 years is nothing short of miraculous according to Piers.

Piers Morgan on Dubai features Piers talking about the Burj Dubai. Not to be confused with the world’s first 7-star hotel in the same city, the Burj-Al-Arab, the Burj Dubai is now the tallest structure in the world. At already 720 metres tall, work on the Burj Dubai is ongoing, making it taller and taller all the time. According to Piers Morgan, a new storey is added to the Burj Dubai every three days. The Burj Dubai is another part of Sheik Mohammed’s plan to make sure Dubai stands out.

The ambition of the Burj Dubai is to be almost double the height of the next tallest building on earth. As Piers Morgan said on This Morning, everything about Dubai is outrageous. Dubai also has the world’s biggest shopping mall where Piers Morgan said he could spend months walking around. There is an indoor ski centre in Dubai, in the middle of a blazingly hot 50 degree desert location. Piers Morgan said that the opulence and scale of Dubai is incredible.
