The Kent seaside resort of Margate was subject to a re-branding task on The Apprentice this week. Team Empire, PM’ed by Deborah, used the idea of the Pink Pound to rebrand Margate as a gay hotspot. They scored badly, and lost the task to Team Ignite who went for a more traditional and safe family rebrand. Mona was given the chop by Sir Alan this week.
Margate has been in decline over the years, with an ageing population and renovation work needed on certain buildings. However in the current economic climate Margate looks set to benefit from the credit crunch with more and more UK families choosing to holiday in the UK this summer.

The Lovers Lead dog lead featured heavily on tonight’s The Apprentice which saw Estate Agent Philip Taylor fired from the boardroom.
The Lovers Lead was amongst several unique products pitched to the Apprentice candidates this evening, along with a bag for shopping which attaches to your bike, a cat play box made from cardboard and shaped like a tank, plane or fire engine, and a sleeping bag in the shape of a person with arms and legs.
The Lovers Lead dog lead is a unique dog lead designed for couples walking their dog. It features two handles so that the dog can be walked in tandem. Great for couples, or alternatively as a training aid for youngsters learning to walk their dog for the first time.
Apprentice candidates Deborah and Mona pitched the Lovers Lead to Pets at Home, the huge UK pet superstore, and secured a fairly large trial order. You can visit Pets at Home here
