Spy Pen like the one seen on The Alan Titchmarsh Show

Electronics, Gifts & Gadgets, The Alan Titchmarsh Show, Toys No Comments »

spy-pen

Alan used a Spy Pen to secretly film guests in his green room performing a ‘conga’ routine. Whether this was staged or not is unclear, but what is clear is that the Spy Pen is a nifty piece of equipment. It looks and works like a normal pen, but just above the clip is a tiny camcorder lens which can be activated discreetly by pressing a button on top of the pen. This records video and sound onto the Spy Pen, up to 4GB worth of film. Possibly the most surprising thing about the Spy Pen is the price – we’ve found one on Amazon for £24.99.

If you would like to buy a Spy Pen similar to the one shown on The Alan Titchmarsh Show, they are available to buy online from £24.99.

Blake as seen on The Alan Titchmarsh Show

Music & DVD, The Alan Titchmarsh Show No Comments »

Blake are a group who first appeared on television on The Alan Titchmarsh Show a year ago, as four young men who met on the internet site facebook and dreamt of taking the classical music scene by storm. 12 months on, Blake have done it. They’ve had the best-selling classical album of the year, won a coveted Brit Award, and as Alan Titchmarsh remarked: “Now have scores of screaming girls lusting after them”.

Blake’s debut album, ‘Blake’ went immediately to first place in the UK classical music album chart and has now sold over 150,000 albums in the UK. On yesterday’s The Alan Titchmarsh Show, Blake appeared in the studio to promote their second album ‘And So It Goes’ and to sing for the audience.

Blake have been in the news recently for a connection with Kate Middleton. One of the Blake boys admitted that him and Kate were friends at St Andrews, but that the stories of Kate suddenly freezing him out had been taken completely out of context.

Blake revealed on The Alan Titchmarsh Show that an amazing group of girls, the Garrison Girls, will be touring the garrisons with Blake supporting our troops. It is something to look out for soon, they said. Blake then sang the classic ‘Time to Say Goodbye’ from their new album ‘And So It Goes’, which is available to buy online.

A Dog’s Life by Martin Clunes, as seen on The Alan Titchmarsh Show

Books, Pets, The Alan Titchmarsh Show No Comments »

Martin Clunes appeared on the Alan Titchmarsh show yesterday promoting his new book ‘A Dog’s Life’. Martin is a real dog lover and currently has three dogs. ‘A Dog’s Life’ is also kind of a book version of Martin’s recent TV series, ‘Martin Clunes: A man and his dogs‘, in which he talks about his dogs and the great impact they have on his life.

Alan Titchmarsh was amused that each of Martin Clunes’ dogs have two names. There is Mary Elizabeth, Tina Audrey and Arthur Colin. Martin’s cat is called Maisy Ann, and is actually a boy.

In the interview Martin explained how the TV series and book came about. On the set of Doc Martin, a production company came to do a behind the scenes feature, and there were loads of dogs around the resort, including Martin Clunes’ own dogs. The idea of doing a programme starring Martin about his dogs then emerged.

A Dog’s Life is more than just a book about how Britain are a nation of dog lovers – Martin documents how he travelled round the world to explore the history and geography of our fascination with canine pets, from Tanzania to Australia to Beverley Hills and Yellowstone Park.

It is a really fascinating read for any dog lover.

Fictionary: Words that don’t exist but should, as seen on The Alan Titchmarsh Show

Books, The Alan Titchmarsh Show No Comments »

Alan Titchmarsh described the Fictionary book as a great early stocking filler. Fictionary: Words that don’t exist that should is full of made-up words that may following the publication of this book make it into the English language.

Alan provided a couple of examples from Fictionary, and asked guests Martin Clunes and Carole Malone to guess what they meant. First, Alan asked Martin what Crappucchino meant. Martin guessed bad coffee, and he was nearly right. Alan explained that it meant a cup of poorly made coffee that you’ve paid about five quid for from one of the huge coffee chains.

Then Alan asked Carole what Inshopnia meant. Carole guessed as a bit of a shopaholic that Inshopnia referred to getting into a shop and not being able to get out of it. Alan explained that Inshopnia referred to a combination of shopping and insomnia – a disorder marked by making unnecessary online purchases in the wee small hours due to insomnia. Both Martin and Carole confessed that they suffer from ‘Inshopnia’.

Carole then quizzed Alan Titchmarsh and Martin Clunes on what ‘reflection period’ meant from the Fictionary. Martin guessed it was something to do with mirrors. Carole explained that it was the time when you’re trying something on and looking in a mirror, trying to decide whether it’s one of those skinny mirrors that make you look four stones lighter than you really are.

Martin’s word from Fictionary was ‘phonycall’. Carole guessed that it was a phone call you make when you’re lying to someone. Martin explained that it was the call you make when you pray you’ll get someone’s voicemail.

Fictionary as seen on The Alan Titchmarsh Show would make a great stocking filler.

Lego Taj Mahal as seen on The Alan Titchmarsh Show

The Alan Titchmarsh Show, Toys No Comments »

Alan Titchmarsh yesterday discussed a couple of interesting products with Martin Clunes and Carole Malone. The first was the Lego Taj Mahal. The newest thing in Lego, the Taj Mahal is also one of Lego’s biggest sets. It isn’t cheap – the Lego Taj Mahal costs around £200, but the detail is incredible, with 6000 pieces.

Carole Malone wondered whether the Lego Taj Mahal was more suitable for adults than children given the complexity of the design and the sheer scale of it! However Alan said that they would probably have children writing in saying that they have been able to complete the Taj Mahal in half an hour. Martin Clunes commented that Lego wasn’t like this in his day – back then you only had the simple blocks to play with.

The Lego Taj Mahal as seen on the Alan Titchmarsh show is available from the official Lego website currently priced at £199 – click here to visit the site
