Spaced starring Simon Pegg as seen on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross
Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Music & DVD, Spaced No Comments »British comedy actor Simon Pegg appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross to talk about his upcoming role as Scotty in the new Star Trek film, his new movie based on the life of Toby Young, and Jonathan also quizzed Simon about his popularity and level of fame in the States. Jonathan asked Simon whether he was well known in America given that his comedy series Spaced was not a huge network hit over there as it was over here.
Simon replied that because of the success of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, Spaced came out on DVD in America only this year, 8 years after it was first released in Britain. Spaced went to number 2 in the Amazon charts and was huge in America, which Simon Pegg said was ‘really nice…to finally get that vindication’.
Spaced is a sitcom like no other. Each episode is themed after at least one movie, with at least one Star Wars reference. Simon Pegg is obviously a film buff, as homages are paid throughout the series to classic films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Shining.
