The Proclaimers appeared on GMTV this morning to sing their new single Love Can Move Mountains. Ben Shepherd introduced the Scottish twins with news of rave reviews for Notes & Rhymes, their new album which is their 13th. The limited edition special version of Notes and Rhymes contains a second disc featuring four exclusive acoustic songs recorded with The Proclaimers’ original producer John Williams, and 6 songs from a live Edinburgh performance in August 2008.

The GMTV Bikini Diet is back for 2009 with the help of Mr Motivator and new fitness instructor Deanne. Heavily featured on both GMTV and GMTV with Lorraine, the bikini diet is a 28 day plan to help you shed the pounds and get that perfect bikini body.

The GMTV bikini diet is based on your personal body shape. According to GMTV you are an apple, a pear or a tofi. The recipes for each body shape are different, as are the diet exercises. Today (Friday) GMTV has released the bikini diet recipes on its website. First simply enter your measurements onto the GMTV bikini diet shape calculator, then view and follow the diet which corresponds to your own personal body shape. The diet officially starts on Monday, but you can download the diet recipes in preparation from today.

Martin Lewis appeared on GMTV this morning to talk about money saving tips, ISA and mortgage deals. Martin suggested that paying off part of your mortage was dependent on a maths calculation: If the after tax interest on your savings is lower than your mortgage rate, you should pay your mortgage rate off. If you can earn more from your savings after tax than your mortgage is costing, then continue to save. It all depends on the type of mortgage you have - if you have a cheap tracker mortgage at the moment you’ll be far better off saving in a decent savings account than paying off your mortgage. Also watch out for penalties for paying off your mortgage early, and have an emergency cash fund set aside.

One viewer asked whether he should switch his ISA from one account to another to improve the interest. Martin said you should do this, but - make sure you do not take the cash out of the account and open a new one yourself. If you do this it’s no longer classed as a cash ISA and you will lose your tax-free allowance. Instead, you need to set up an ISA account with a new bank, then ask them to transfer the balance from your old ISA into the new one. This way, the money is still classed as an ISA and is therefore still tax-free.

Redundancy is a fact of life, especially at the moment, but this week GMTV with Lorraine is looking at post-redundancy success stories. First up was Hannah Evans. She lost her job, but decided to set up her own business, Piccalilly, as a result.

Piccalilly sells organic fair trade certified baby clothes. Hannah decided to launch Piccalilly because she believed there was a gap in the market for organic brightly coloured baby clothes. Piccalilly has gone from strength to strength, and they now have more than 150 retailers worldwide.

Moneysavingexpert Martin Lewis appeared on GMTV with Lorraine to tell viewers about the best deals around at the moment. Here are some of the best deals of the week.

First up was the European Health Insurance Card, EHIC card. Martin Lewis urged everyone to get one of these. If you’re carrying a European Health Insurance Card and you go anywhere in the European Union, or Switzerland, it gives you free or discounted treatment in a state-run hospital. The EHIC card replaced the E111 insurance form in September 2005, and millions of people got an EHIC card then. However, many people’s EHIC card will have now expired, so make sure yours is renewed if you have one. You can apply for an EHIC card here

The second Martin Lewis best deal was free DVD rental from Tesco. Tesco are no longer just a supermarket. Actor Michael Sheen has impersonated various characters in his acting career. The Welsh actor has portrayed Tony Blair in The Queen, David Frost in Frost/Nixon and now Brian Clough in his new film The Damned United.

The Damned United tells the story of Brian Clough’s short but eventful time in charge of Leeds United. The film is based on the book The Damned Utd by Dave Peace, and both are currently enjoying rave reviews and enormous publicity. Michael Sheen appeared on GMTV with Lorraine to talk about the film.

Author Megan Basham is hitting the headlines at the moment thanks to her new controversial book ‘Beside Every Successful Man’. This new book claims that women would be financially better off if they all put their energy into supporting their partners instead of actually going out to work.

The author of Beside Every Successful Man Megan Basham appeared on GMTV with Lorraine via live satellite linkup from Phoenix, Arizona for a chat with Lorraine. Instead of enraging career women throughout the country, Megan claimed that the main intention of her new book was to be aimed at the vast majority of women who say they would prefer to work part-time or fewer hours once they have kids - Beside Every Successful Man aims to show this type of woman how to get what they want. Megan claims that many wives who stay at home and aid their husbands through child care and more, basically acting as their husband’s PA, have a significant effect on the earnings of their husband and hence their family.
