Silver-screen living legend Tony Curtis appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross to talk about his life and his new autobiography ‘American Prince’. Tony Curtis is 83 years old and has lived a remarkable life. He is best known for his role opposite Marilyn Monroe in the classic ‘Some Like It Hot’.
Tony Curtis ‘American Prince: My Autobiography’ is a ‘fabulous read’ according to Jonathan Ross. According to Tony Curtis it is the definitive story of his life. Curtis has so many interesting stories to tell in his book. He had an affair with Marilyn Monroe, and friendships with the original Rat Pack including Frank Sinatra and Dean. His daughter is the famous actress Jamie Lee Curtis.
Gordon Ramsay appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross last night to cook a delicious scrambled egg and also talk about his new cookery book ‘Cooking For Friends: Food From My Table’.
Jonathan joked that the book contains many pictures of Gordon ‘17′. However contrary to what Jonathan said, there is not a pop-out section featuring Gordon Ramsay’s feet. Gordon Ramsay explained that the book contained meals was for someone who wanted to cook for their friends but who wasn’t an expert in the kitchen. The recipes are quick and easy to prepare, not requiring too much work in the kitchen.
Last night in between guests Ricky Gervais and Gordon Ramsey, Jonathan Ross introduced two ’sackboy’ characters of him and Ricky (complete with David Brent beard).
For those of you who are wondering what ’sackboys’ are, they are characters in the upcoming PS3 exclusive game ‘Little Big Planet’, a side-scrolling 2D/3D platformer which is set to become the must have computer game this Christmas.
Originally due for release in early October, the game has been delayed a further few weeks. The cause of the delay is that one of Little Big Planet’s background songs licensed from a record label to be used in the game apparently contains a couple of expressions that can be found in the Koran. The current release date for Little Big Planet is 24th October according to Amazon.
In between interviewing Claudia Winkleman and Roger Moore on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Jonathan showed a couple of clips from the film ‘Shark in Venice’, which is a 2008 film starring Stephen Baldwin and is available to buy online. Think ‘Jaws in a romantic setting’. The clip Jonathan showed was of a Venice gondola being destroyed by a shark.
Jonathan Ross described Shark in Venice as a ‘brilliant idea’ for a film, but that may have been slightly tongue in cheek. You can make your own mind up by viewing the trailer above. It is available to buy online from Amazon.
Alan Carr was first guest on last night’s Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, talking about his new autobiography entitled: Look Who It Is: My Story. Jonathan commented that Alan was looking great, and Alan confirmed that he was enjoying life at the moment. Sunday Night Project is coming back in time for Christmas, it was revealed by Alan. Michael Parkinson even tentatively agreed to present the show with Alan and Justin Lee Collins, so watch this space.
Alan Carr’s book ‘Look Who It Is!’ is available to buy online. Jonathan Ross said the book is a very honest account of Alan’s life thus far. Alan Carr talks about coming out to his parents, some of the jobs he’s had before becoming famous including being a ‘driver’s mate’ accompanying long haul lorry drivers at a conservatory company. Another job Alan had was wiping grease off gear boxes.
Four Poofs and a Piano, the gay camp music band with a weekly slot on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, are going on tour, Jonathan announced last night. He said that if you live in Telford, Hull, Bracknell, or in fact any entertainment starved provincial wilderness, then one of the smaller theatres in your town will soon be two thirds full as 4 Poofs and a Piano hit the road.
4 Poofs and a Piano with their jaunty re-workings of old classics in their own inimitable style have become household names, helped by their TV work on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross but they have also made a number of VIP appearances for the likes of Microsoft.
British comedy actor Simon Pegg appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross to talk about his upcoming role as Scotty in the new Star Trek film, his new movie based on the life of Toby Young, and Jonathan also quizzed Simon about his popularity and level of fame in the States. Jonathan asked Simon whether he was well known in America given that his comedy series Spaced was not a huge network hit over there as it was over here.
Simon replied that because of the success of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, Spaced came out on DVD in America only this year, 8 years after it was first released in Britain. Spaced went to number 2 in the Amazon charts and was huge in America, which Simon Pegg said was ‘really nice…to finally get that vindication’.
Spaced is a sitcom like no other. Each episode is themed after at least one movie, with at least one Star Wars reference. Simon Pegg is obviously a film buff, as homages are paid throughout the series to classic films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Shining.
Paul O’Grady, former stand-up cross-dressing comedian and now king of daytime TV, appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross last night for a chat about his life and to promote his new autobiography.
Paul O’Grady’s autobiography is titled: At My Mother’s Knee…And Other Low Joints: The Autobiography.
Jonathan Ross chatted to Paul, 53, about his current life on a farm next door to Julian Clary of all people. Jonathan suggested that Dale Winton should be encouraged to buy the farm on the other side to create a big ‘gay farming’ community.
A self-confessed ‘moaner’, Paul O’Grady puts his grouchiness down to the heart medicine he takes following two heart attacks, though he did go on to tell Jonathan that he thaws as each day progresses.
At My Mother’s Knee… documents Paul’s early life, strongly influenced by his sharp-tongued mother and a couple of aunties. From working class roots, Paul O’Grady documents his formative years before fame and success transformed him into the national treasure he is today.
At My Mother’s Knee…and other low joints, the autobiography by Paul O’Grady as seen on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross would make a great present for someone and is available to buy online by clicking here.
