Home hair dye kits were tested on GMTV with Lorraine this morning. Garnier Nutrisse Cream at around £5 received a rating of 7 out of 10. It was nice to use but hair felt slightly dry afterwards according to the GMTV tester. Her hair had a lovely shine to it according to the GMTV expert. Next up was Clairol Nice ‘n Easy Perfect 10 which scored a remarkable 10 out of 10. The Perfect 10 gives excellent shine, colour and condition and takes only 10 minutes.

Nora used Boots Botanics at £3.91 which she was very happy with. It only took 20 minutes and the colour came out very shiny and rich compared to her old look – 9 out of 10. The GMTV expert said these hair products were all great for colour depth and shine. Finally the L’Oreal Casting Creme Gloss was tested and the lady was very pleased with the results. The Casting Creme Gloss is a semi-permanent hair dye, is easy to apply and a subtle colour difference – 8 out of 10.

Pelvic Floor Exercise products as seen on Embarrassing Bodies

Embarrassing Bodies, Health & Beauty No Comments »

Pelvic Floor Exercise equipment was featured on last night’s Embarrassing Bodies, the roving health show presented by Doctors Christian Jessen and Pixie McKenna.

The pelvic floor runs from the pubic bone at the front to the tailbone at the back, a bit like a pelvic thong. If the pelvic floor isn’t exercised, leakage can happen. This is a huge problem for women after they’ve given birth, and strengthening the pelvic floor is important.

Childbirth is not the only cause of a weak pelvic floor. Menopause, old age and obesity can all be contributing factors. There are several products available which are supposed to strengthen the pelvic floor, and 3 of them were tested on Embarrassing Bodies last night.

1) NeuroTrac PelviTone – £69.99

The Neuro Trac PelviTone is an electronic continence stimulator. You place one end of the device inside the vagina and the main unit delivers mild electric currents to contract the muscles and strengthen them, strengthening the pelvic floor. The tester said it was very easy to use and that her pelvic floor muscles were improved by 50%. You can get a NeuroTrac Pelvic Tone here

2) Spring Loaded Pelvic Toner – £29.99

The Spring-loaded pelvic toner was tested by Natasha. You insert a portion of the pelvic toner inside the vagina, and it works by forcing clenches and strengthening the muscles this way. You can get a pelvic toner here

3) Weighted Aqua Flex Cones – £24.95

Sharon tested the AquaFlex cones, which uses weights to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. There is no vibration from the AquaFlex cones, the weights force muscle contractions and strengthen the pelvic floor this way. They are inserted like a tampon and can be worn all day. Sharon said that using this had improved her pelvic floor muscles by 60% and had a remarkable effect on her sex life.  Get an Aqua Flex Pelvic Floor strengthener here

Health & Beauty, The Wright Stuff No Comments »

The Wright Stuff regular Lowry Turner today revealed that from 23rd March 2009, Lloyds Pharmacy was making the morning after pill available to buy online, without the need to see a doctor or pharmacist. This news has caused a bit of a stir, with some people suggesting that it may encourage young women to have unprotected sex, in the knowledge that they can simply buy the morning after pill online to ensure they don’t get pregnant.

Lloyds Pharmacy, the company who are first to start selling the morning after pill online, are countering this claim by saying that they are imposing a 72 hour wait for the tablets to be dispatched, so that women can’t simply have unprotected sex then instantly buy the morning after pill online.

This news represents something of a landmark – for the first time ever the morning after pill is available online.
