The Peanut Butter Maker was the last of this week’s Something for the Weekend gadgets. This gadget does exactly what it says on the tin – simply pop the peanuts into the top compartment, and the machine churns out peanut butter, either chunky or smooth. The recent trend for retro kit has breathed new life into the teasmade. The teasmade had been out of production for years, but now as Working Lunch investigated, a group of businessmen have rescued the teasmade and given it a modern design and modern technology.
The teasmade has been around for 100 years, it is well loved, iconic and has been missed. Now the teasmade is back for a new market including students, mothers with newborn babies and pensioners – a product for all ages. This teasmaid is promoted on facebook and twitter.

The Bugatti Vera Kettle was the first of this week’s Something for the Weekend gadgets. Gadget girl Seema Parmar explained that this Bugatti kettle was a contemporary and highly technical kettle. You can program in your required water temperature onto the LED display on the handle, and the display will show the rise in temperature as the kettle boils. The Bugatti kettle is fairly quiet for a kettle, and the cone shaped design helps save on energy. The other cool feature is that the kettle can be set to boil at a certain time of day, eg 7am when you wake up for work.

Alan Titchmarsh cooked up a roast dinner on yesterday’s show, then asked the expert which type of red wine would go best with a traditional sunday roast. First choice was the Poggiotondo Chianti 2007 from Waitrose, lovely ripe plum fruit with clean acidity to deal with the fatty content of the lamb roast.
For roast pork, the wine expert went for the ringbolt cabernet sauvignon 2007 available from Tesco Wine. This Australian red wine is £8.49 per bottle, containing flavours of clove, herb and mulberry to draw out the flavour of the roast pork. The clove and the apple sauce make a great combination.
For roast beef, a red wine from New Zealand was chosen – the Sacred Hill Syrah 2008 from Sainsburys. This was a little tougher than the other 2 and perfect for roast beef with hints of white pepper.
MyDish is the brainchild of entrepreneur Carol Savage, who appeared on Dragons’ Den to pitch her website MyDish.co.uk, an online community for people who want to share recipes. Carol walked into the Dragons’ Den asking for £100,000 for a 10% stake in MyDish.
The website at MyDish.co.uk looks very clean, professional and well-designed. A statement from Carol on her homepage indicates that she sees MyDish as a place to collect recipes that may have been handed down through generations, keeping them safe for the family to refer to, and sharing them with the wider MyDish community.

The Pocket Pint was the last of this week’s Something for the Weekend gadgets. Tim Lovejoy described this as ‘the best one’. The Pocket Pint stays folded in your pocket or handbag until the time comes when you need a handy portable pint glass (plastic actually). The Pocket Pint is telescopic and simply slides out to form a pint container. Perfect for taking to a festival or something like that.

Saturday Kitchen wine expert Olly Smith chose a Spinyback Pinot Gris 2007 white wine to go with the chef’s chicken dumpling Thai soup with noodles and Pak Choi.
The wine was chosen from Uckfield, and the New Zealand Spinyback was the perfect choice for its good low price. It’s from Nelson which is a bright and warm area of New Zealand, perfect for producing a ripe white wine. Pears and spices, and a syrupy texture make the Spinyback Pinot Gris a perfect accompaniment for the coconut milk dish. It also has a polished finish to complement the lime juice in the soup. Olly Smith said this wine would work well with a wide range of asian dishes.

Juicers were tested on The Gadget Show this week. Guest presenter Gail Porter compiled The Gadget Show’s Top 5 Juicers on the market based on effectiveness, ease of use, ease of cleaning, extra features and overall taste. Here were the results from 5 to 1:
The L’Equip is a good all-round juicer but according to Gail Porter it does leave the juice a bit too frothy.
The Champion 2000+ juicer is a hybrid juicer which both grates and pulps really smoothly, if a bit slowly.
3) Wildcat JX200
The Wildcat JX200 juicer is slightly 80′s-looking according to Gadget Show presenter Gail.
The Breville professional juice extractor, designed in collaboration with Anthony Worrall-Thompson, has an extra wide opening which makes it very easy to use.
The Philips HR1865 is a terrific all-round juicer in terms of speed, price, great juice and great extra features. Jason described it as beautifully small, and Gail said it was a very easy to clean juicer.
