Amanda Knox: The Untold Story further reading #amandaknox

Tonight sees an emotive Channel 5 documentary called Amanda Knox: The Untold Story. It explores the events surrounding the murder of British student Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy in 2007. Four days after the murder Kercher’s flatmate, American Amanda Knox was jailed along with her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and Rudy Guede, an Ivory Coast drug dealer. Recently, four years after the murder, Knox and Sollecito were acquitted and freed under intense media glare across the world.

Amanda Knox: The Untold Story features interviews with a criminologist and a forensic scientist, and reviews the evidence which was originally used to convict the three suspects. It also explores what the decision to acquit Knox and Sollecito means for Meredith’s family and the Italian justice system.

Such a complex case can not be fully explored in the space of an hour long documentary, and some will want more information about the events and those involved. Author John Follain has recently released a book which claims to provide just that. It’s called ’Death in Perugia: The Definitive Account of the Meredith Kercher case from her murder to the acquittal of Raffaele Sollecito and Amanda Knox.
